About the Author

Taveesha Guyton is a poet, educator, and emotional truth-teller whose words hold space for the quiet battles we carry. Her debut poetry collection, I Think I Might Need Therapy, invites readers into a raw, reflective journey through love, mental health, grief, and healing.

Guided by her background in Psychology, Social Work, and Infant Family Mental Health, Taveesha writes with both softness and precision—crafting poems that name what others often leave unspoken.

She believes in the power of language to soothe, stir, and start conversations we’re often too afraid to have.

When she’s not writing, Taveesha supports families as a parent educator and early intervention specialist. Whether on the page or in the community, her work centers emotional growth, compassion, and truth.

About the book

I Think I May Need Therapy is divided into these three sections not to label your emotions—but to walk with you through them. Wherever you are in your journey, there’s a poem here that understands.

Section One: Heartbreaks and Other Aches

These are the poems that come after the fall. They speak the language of breakups, unmet expectations, almost-loves, and late-night longing. Whether it’s the ache of being chosen second or the weight of a goodbye that never got closure, this section is where the heart breaks — and still dares to hope.

For anyone who ever loved hard, lost quietly, and kept showing up anyway.

Section Two:
I Drink to Keep From Thinking

This is the unraveling. These poems live in the in-between — the habits we form to silence pain, the emotional hangovers, and the moments we pretend we're fine. It’s raw, unfiltered, and painfully honest. Here, distraction becomes a survival tactic, and numbness feels safer than honesty.

These are the poems you write when silence starts to scream

Section Three:
Shhh... Can You Keep a Secret?

The most vulnerable truths hide here — the ones we’ve buried deep, the memories we never shared, the feelings we thought would be too much for the world to hold. This section uncovers shame, trauma, self-blame, and the quiet yearning to be seen, fully. It’s the whisper behind the smile. The story behind the strong face.

Some secrets need telling. These poems tell them softly, but boldly.

Each section in
I Think I May Need Therapy holds space for a different kind of healing. Whether you're grieving, avoiding, or finally ready to tell the truth—there’s a poem here waiting for you.

Whatever you are going through, someone on this vast earth is going through as well, so find comfort in the fact that you are not alone.
